Amman, July 2023: the Royal Film Commission – Jordan (RFC) and Generations for Peace (GFP) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to enhance partnership, cooperation, and support for youth in filmmaking programmes. RFC Managing Director Mohannad Al-Bakri, and GFP President Dr Mohanned Arabiat signed the agreement.
Dr Mohanned Arabiat said that this agreement aligns with GFP’s mission to further develop its peacebuilding tools, including Media for Peace, its most recent addition.

He pointed out that the Media for Peace tool allows youth to amplify their voices and express their hopes for positive change. GFP utilizes the tool to create a space for local youth to raise and discuss topics of interest, using the platforms that suit them, and to develop the capabilities and skills of media professionals.

He added, "The partnership with RFC will enhance our access to various film industry resources and expertise. It will also allow us to present the creative work of the youth participating in our media programmes to a wider audience, offering them a space to tell their stories, express themselves, and realize their passions for leading positive change."

On his part, Al-Bakri said, "The Royal Film Commission has always worked on encouraging and supporting youth to provide job opportunities in the field of cinema and enhance their knowledge about the film culture. We have sought to establish educational programmes that help build and develop the capacities of youth by providing them with training in film and media production, enabling them to express themselves on various topics. We have provided clear evidence of a sustainable economic impact on the film industry through our commitment to supporting and enhancing the role of local communities throughout Jordan, benefiting both Jordanians and residents in Jordan."  He added, "For this reason, we are proud to partner with GFP for the moral and practical support it will provide to the youth by developing and enhancing their talents, building their capacities to enhance the film industry in Jordan, and fostering sustainable peace in communities. These goals can only be achieved through the collaboration of different institutions and their collective efforts."

This MoU is a step towards providing mutual support and guidance in film industries, promoting local initiatives, businesses, and talents, and facilitating opportunities for cooperation with stakeholders in the film industry at the national and international levels. Additionally, it seeks to work towards enhancing policies related to the film industry in Jordan.
