How to Film in Jordan

All foreign productions are required to have a local production services company or a local fixer to film in Jordan. The production services department will facilitate your project after you submit the needed applications forms, by sending an official facilitation letter in just three working days for reshooting at public locations (please check the time frame for other locations/requirements HERE.

Scouting

The Royal Film Commission supports scouting locations by:

- Securing access to desired locations.

- Providing information about the locations.

- Help with the scout itinerary.

- Connecting productions with local Location Managers.

- Matching locations according to the breakdown of the script or reference pictures.

Using Drones in Jordan

Drones are prohibited in Jordan but as a film commission, we do facilitate the entry and usage of drones for production/filming purposes in Jordan. To use a drone, you need special permits. To apply for them, please download and complete the drone form. The application process requires a minimum of five working days from the day we receive all forms filled with the supporting documents.

Costs of Using a Drone for Filming in Jordan

- 1000 JOD (around 1410 US$) deposit fee that will be refundable when leaving Jordan, should be paid to the airport customs department.

- 500 JOD (around 705 US$) as customs registration fees that must be paid to the airport customs department.

- 150 JOD (around 211 US$) per day for drone usage, should be paid to the Military Media Department.

 

Furthermore, the Jordanian Army will assign a representative to handle the drone upon arrival till departure, and during drone usage day/s, which requires the production to cover the transportation, accommodation (outside Amman), and F&B for the representative.

 

An agreement needs to be signed between the production and the Military Media Department upon the drone’s arrival to Jordan, depending on the number of flying dates mentioned in the application, the accumulated amounts should be paid in advance when signing the agreement.

Carry Your Equipment

If you need to bring handheld equipment from abroad, you are kindly requested to fill the equipment list.

*Carrying your luggage & handheld equipment is applicable for non-Jordanians only, and not applicable for double nationals (Jordanians & Jordanian residents in any other country.)

Ship Your Equipment

For shipping through courier, the following are the available options:

- Temporary entry: for identifiable items/equipment with serial number, separate invoice & packing list for each type (camera equipment, sound equipment, wardrobe, props, production office consumables, art department consumables.)

- Exemption entry: for non-identifiable and consumables items/equipment, separate invoice & packing list for each type (Camera equipment, sound equipment, wardrobe, props, production office consumables, art department consumables.)

Notes:

- Each item should be mentioned in a separate list based on the type/department. - Only the remaining consumables should be exported.

The Jordanian courier/shipping company agent/clearance company assigned by the production should contact the Production Services Department at the RFC (direct connection, with the acknowledgement of the production company/team) to issue the customs facilitation letters.

The following documents must be provided to PSD to issue the needed customs letters:

- Invoice for the shipped items and/or equipment, with Arabic translation, description aside.

- Packing list for the shipped items and/or equipment, with Arabic translation, description aside.

- Air Waybill (AWB) for the shipped items/equipment.
