1. Job Vacancy at The Royal Film Commission – Jordan: Film Library Supervisor
The Royal Film Commission – Jordan (RFC) is seeking to fill the position for a Film Library Supervisor.

Job Description

Job Summary: Managing the Film Library, from collection maintenance to updating the database. Promoting the Library and interest in films, through specific activities. Co-managing the Instagram of the Library. Performing audiovisual documentation and editing. Daily media monitoring. Contributing to the screening program of the RFC.

This position is largely autonomous and requires a high sense of responsibility.

TASKS & RESPONSIBILITIES

1. LIBRARY TASKS:
• Managing the Library's daily tasks: welcoming and advising visitors; maintaining the inventory updated; following up with members.
• Indexing and classifying the library collection.
• Maintaining and updating records of visitors.
• Organizing specific and outreach activities to attract more visitors to the Library.
• Co-Managing the Library Instagram.

2. TECHNICAL SUPPORT:
• Audiovisual documentation and editing, whenever required.

3. COMMUNICATION:
• Participating in the screening program of the RFC.
• Monitoring the media for the RFC on a daily basis.
• Researching on movies.
• Providing input to TOPLINE online magazine.
• Performing any other tasks as required by the Manager, within availability and competencies.

WORKING HOURS
5 days a week (Friday and Tuesday Off). Working hours from 2:30 p.m. till 8 p.m.

Skills

EXPERIENCE & COMPETENCIES
At least two-year experience as a Librarian or in a film-related profession.
Excellent film culture.
Very good communication skills.
Valid experience or knowledge in audiovisual documentation and editing.
Very good organizational and research skills. Detail-oriented.
Bilingual: English and Arabic (written and spoken).

2. Call for submissions: Jordan Children’s Film Festival
The Royal Film Commission – Jordan opens the call-out for directors, producers, and rights holders to submit their films for the first edition of the Children Film Festival that will take place in Amman-Jordan, December 2022.

All those who have interest in participating and competing for the festival’s prizes are advised to review the following conditions and send the submission application no later than COB on Sunday, 23rd October 2022.

To be eligible for consideration, all films must meet the following requirements:

- The film must not have been released before 2020.
- The film must not have been previously broadcast or shown on any TV channel or public online platform.
- The film must be in digital formats, MOV or MP4 in high quality.
- The film should not contain scenes or contents that are not appropriate for the targeted age groups from 6 to 16 years old.
- A selection committee will choose eligible films to compete.
- Intellectual property rights must be considered when submitting the films.
- The film should be translated into Arabic for non-Arabic language films or have the required files to provide translation or dubbing into Arabic.
- Long and short narrative and animation films will be accepted.

3. Call for submissions: Jerusalem International Film Festival

Jerusalem International Film Festival is accepting films and special screenplay for its seventh edition under the slogan "Our Heritage is Our Identity". The Festival will start on November 29th  to December 6th, 2022 from Gaza City on the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People.

The Festival accepts narrative films and documentaries, long and short, to compete for the Golden Olive Branch Award for each category, in addition to the Golden Olive Branch Award for Best Actor and Actress, the Production, Screenplay, and Photography Award, and also to compete for the Artist Mohamed Bakri Award for the best national work for the feature documentary.

The Special Screenplay Award includes two screenplay competitions: the first is the Golden Olive Branch Award for Best Screenplay for a Feature Film, and the second is the Golden Olive Branch Award for Best Screenplay for a Short Fiction Film, to contribute to encouraging screenwriters to write their screenplays about Palestine.

Special Screenplay Award Terms:

  1. The scenario should be directly or indirectly addressed to the Palestinian cause.
  2. Submit a script for a narrative film, long or short.
  3. Next to the long scenario, applicants should provide a summary and dramatic treatment.
  4. Anyone who meets the above conditions has the right to apply regardless of the nationality or country of residence.

4. Call for submissions: Cairo International Short Film Festival

Cairo International Short Film Festival (CISFF) is devoted to showcasing the best and brightest short films, advancing the careers of filmmakers through screenings, networking events, and various panels and forums.

Rules & Terms:

  • The Festival only accepts short films, documentaries and student films from 4 to 30 minutes.
  • The Festival only accepts online registrations and submissions to be assessed. Films must have English subtitles.
  • The Festival only accepts films that have been produced during and after January 2021 at this time.
  • By submitting a film, the submitter agrees that the film will be screened in a live theatrical venue during the Festival.
  • All films entries selected for the Festival grant Cairo Shorts (CISFF) the rights to use provided stills, footage, clips, trailers and information from the film for promotion​.
  • All films submitted must be free from any legal disputes and the filmmaker must have cleared all rights for music and exhibition.
  • The Festival will never share or stream your Film(s) online without your permissions.
  • CISFF reserves the right to change any information contained in this document (including Festival dates, venues, events, awards and eligibility requirements) without further notice.
  • Filmmakers will be notified no later than October 15th of their submission status.

5. Call for submissions: Beirut Shorts International Film Festival

Beirut Shorts International Film Festival (BSIFF) is celebrated annually under its constant theme, “The Power of Youth.” The Festival aims to promote young filmmakers by screening their films in front of a large audience base and promote their talents and artistic excellence.

BSIFF accepts both Lebanese and international short films in all mentioned categories: fiction, documentary, animation, experimental, web & new media. Applicants may be graduating students or independent filmmakers.

Rules and Regulations:

  • Films produced after October 1st, 2020 are eligible for submission.
  • Lebanese premiere is a must – films that were screened previously in Lebanon won’t be taken into consideration.
  • BSIFF supports directors of selected international films to travel to Lebanon to participate in the Festival screenings and activities.
  • Applicants admit that they are authorized to submit the film, being the rights-holders or authorized representatives of the film.
  • BSIFF receives exhibition copy in QuickTime 1080p HD 8 bit uncompressed or Apple ProRes file or equivalent via a downloadable link.
  • All films must have adequate English subtitles.
  • Screening fees must be declared prior to or upon submission. If a screening fee is only indicated after the official selection has been announced, the Festival retains the right to revoke the film's acceptance.
  • BSIFF holds the right to:
    • Use the selected films for trailers and publicity usage
    • Screen the winning films in other related events inside Lebanon and recommend the winning films to other international film festivals that collaborate with BSIFF after the approval of the filmmakers.

6. Call for submissions: Stuttgart International Festival of Animated Film 2023

The Stuttgart International Festival of Animated Film (ITFS) will take place from April 25th until 30th 2023. The Festival focuses on artistic animated films, innovations in the field of interactive and transmedia projects as well as the promotion of young talents.

A total of up to 70,000 € in prize money is awarded in the various competition sections.


Terms and conditions:

  • Every animated film, including computer animations and combinations of live-action and animation, which was completed after October 1st, 2021 may be submitted to participate in the ITFS competitions.
  • Only completed animated films can be taken into consideration in the pre-selection process.
  • Films with dialogues that are not in English must have English subtitles.
  • The films chosen by the pre-selection jury of the ITFS participate in the competitions free of charge.
  • Only animated films of up to 30 minutes in length are admitted for entry in the International Competition, the Young Animation competition for student films, the Trickstar Nature Award and in the children’s film competition Tricks for Kids.
  • Any animated film made by students and graduates of universities of film, art and media studies and of educational institutes may be entered in the Young Animation competition for student films.
  • It is not possible for student films to be submitted to the International Competition directly by the students themselves. Student films have to be proposed for the International Competition by the ITFS preselection jury.
  • Animated short films and series for children up to 12 years (each with no more than one episode) may be submitted to the children’s film competition Tricks for Kids.
  • Animated films with a length of over 60 minutes can be entered in the long film competition AniMovie, provided that they have not yet been released in cinemas in Germany before the ITFS 2023.

7. Call for applications: IDFA Bertha Fund
Applications to the IDFA Bertha Fund (IBF) can be made in a variety of different funding categories. In all categories, the Fund is looking for films that use strong visual treatments to tell compelling stories and have the potential to reach a global audience.

The IBF offers development and production support to filmmakers from Africa, Asia, Latin America, the Middle East and Eastern Europe. IBF Europe aims to stimulate the collaboration between independent European producers and producers from the above regions.

The IDFA Bertha Fund supports documentary filmmakers in Africa, Asia, Latin America, the Middle East, and Eastern Europe (see IBF Classic Country List
 ) by offering them financial contributions, assistance and coaching to complete their projects. The Fund is looking for creative documentaries that use strong visual treatments to tell compelling stories and have the potential to reach a global audience.

Projects can be submitted in two  categories:

- Project development: The maximum contribution for project development is €7,500, which must be spent in a country on the IBF Classic Country List.

- Production & post-production: The maximum contribution for production & post-production is €25,000, which must be spent in a country on the IBF Classic Country List.

8. Call for applications: The Screenwriter Showcase

The Screenwriter Showcase based at Pinewood Studios is a quarterly event aimed at enriching new scripts from unsung global talent, introducing producers to screenwriters, all with the aim of bringing filmmakers’ work to life.

The event will consist primarily of a script reading with professional actors at the headquarters in the world-famous Pinewood Studios- home of blockbuster franchises such as James Bond and Star Wars. This is followed from feedback by everyone in the room, including Lift-Off co-founders Ben Pohlman and James Bradley. Feedback is crucial for anyone working in the industry looking to succeed and this is an invaluable opportunity that will benefit any screenwriter.
