1. Job Opportunity at the Royal Film Commission - Jordan: 
Production Services Manager

The incumbent will report to the Managing Director of the Royal Film Commission - Jordan (RFC).  


Tasks & Responsibilities:

- Manage and supervise the Production Services Department (PSD);

- Market Jordan as a filming location in industry trade shows, festivals, markets, and other networking activities;

- Act as the point of reference for international productions on filming in Jordan;

- In charge of solving problems related to productions filming in Jordan;

- In charge of supervising the issuance of filming and production related permits by PSD;

- Liaise with governmental bodies regarding filming and production related inquiries and issues;

- Conduct and supervise location scouts for international productions;

- Manage the Tax Exemption and Film Rebate programs offered by the RFC;

- Manage and organize FAM Tours conducted for industry professionals;

- Supervise the maintaining and building of the locations photo library;

- Supervise the maintaining and building of the video library of productions filmed in Jordan;

- Commission and oversee filming behind the scenes on locations in Jordan;

- Commission and oversee the production of a yearly promotional video;

- Maintain good and productive relationships with local filming community;

- Supervise maintain and update the Directory data base of local filming industry;

- Keep abreast of industry news and identify potential production projects;

- Lend assistance to other departments in organizing and executing special RFC events, as required;

- Prepare monthly, quarterly and yearly reports.


REQUIREMENTS

-        Experience in filmmaking and the production process

-        Proven experience at a managerial level

-        Excellent communication and writing skills in Arabic and English

-        Excellent knowledge of geographical locations in Jordan

-        Strong analytical and critical thinking

-        BA in Filmmaking or any related field

2. Call for submissions: The 70th Cannes Film Festival

The 70th edition of Cannes International Film Festival will take place from 14 until 29 May 2019. Registration of films for the 2019 edition is open. 

Films may be selected for the Official Selection: Competition (features and shorts), Out of Competition or Un Certain Regard. The Selection Committee decides which category a film can participate in.

- FEATURES IN COMPETITION, OUT OF COMPETITION, UN CERTAIN REGARD

Only feature films that meet the following conditions may be submitted for consideration by the Official Selection:

- Films that have been produced during the twelve months preceding the Festival
- Films whose distribution is limited to their country of origin
- Films that have not been presented at any international motion picture event. If the film (feature or short) has been selected for an international section (competitive or not) of a festival, it becomes ineligible for the Festival de Cannes. A selection is international if it presents films from different countries.
- Films that have not been shown on the Internet or released on DVD.
- Every feature film invited to be in competition must be released theatrically in France in accordance with French legislation pertaining to media chronology rules. Any beneficiary, producer or authorized representative submitting a feature film commits to honoring this clause.

FILM DURATION
In order to be selected as a feature film, your film must be more than 60 minutes long..

The registration deadline is March 4th, 2019.

- SHORT FILMS IN COMPETITION

Only films that meet the following conditions may be submitted for consideration by the Official Selection:
- Films that have been produced during the twelve months preceding the Festival
- Films whose distribution is limited to their country of origin
- Films that have not been presented at any international motion picture event. If the film has been selected for an international section (competitive or not) of a festival, it becomes ineligible for the Festival de Cannes. A selection is international if it presents films from different countries.
- Films that have not been shown on the Internet
- Short films that do not exceed 15 minutes in length, including credits

 

The registration deadline is 1st March 2019.

- CINÉFONDATION SELECTION

 

Unless a special dispensation is granted, a film must comply with the following conditions in order to be submitted:
- have been directed by a student within his/her film school curriculum;
- have been made during the 18 months preceding the Festival;
- have not been presented at major international festivals. However a film can have been shown at a festival in its country of origin;
- not exceed 60 minutes in running-time.

Notes:
- Films made at Junior secondary school or High school level are not accepted for selection in this section of the Festival, only films produced in the context of a Film school or Film studies department of a University are eligible.
- Documentaries are not accepted.
- It is possible to send a working copy of the film.

- Films from film schools have to be registered with the Cinéfondation Selection and cannot be registered for the Short Film Competition.
- Short films (from 1 to 35 min) can also be registered in the Short Film Corner.

PLEASE NOTE:
THE CAMERA D'OR: The Caméra d'Or is not a specific category; it is an award. However, all selected first feature films compete for the Caméra d'Or, awarded to the best first film presented in the Official Selection (Competition, Out of Competition, Un Certain Regard), in the Director's Fortnight or in the Semaine de la Critique.

THE SHORT FILM CORNER: The Short Film Corner is exclusively reserved for shorts. You can submit films to the Short Film Corner for a fee online on the Cannes Short Film site: http://www.cannescourtmetrage.com/fr/

3. Call for submissions: The 73rd Edinburgh International Film Festival

The 73rd edition of Edinburgh International Film Festival (EIFF) takes place in Edinburgh from 19 to 30 June 2019, and you can be a part of it.

EIFF is especially interested in films by emerging filmmakers whose work manifests stylistic boldness, strength of form, and the ambition to use the medium in a way that resists cliché.

Rules: 
- All submitted films should be no older than 12 months old by June 2019, and meet the selection criteria as described below.
A short film is 30 minutes or under and a feature film is anything over 30 minutes.
- Films that are available to purchase are not eligible. This includes DVD/Blu-ray/VHS formats.
- Promotional films are not eligible (e.g. films promoting tourism, charitable appeals, etc.)

Different genres and lengths of film have different premiere requirements:

Features
A
ll Feature Films (Fiction, Documentary, Animation and Experimental) must be UK premieres.


Short 
Fiction, documentary and experimental submissions are split into UK and International categories:

INTERNATIONAL Short Fiction, Documentary and Experimental Films must be UK Premieres. EIFF is particularly interested in world, international or European premieres. These films CANNOT have previously been publicly screened, broadcast or otherwise made publicly available (including online) in the UK.
Short ANIMATION submissions are split into UK and International:

UK Short Animations have 
no premiere restrictions. Films can have previously been publicly screened, broadcast or otherwise made publicly available (including online) in the UK.
INTERNATIONAL Short Animations must be UK Premieres. These films 
cannot have previously been publicly screened, broadcast or otherwise made publicly available (including online) in the UK.

 

There are three submissions deadlines:

Earlybird – Thursday 13 December 2018
SHORT – £20.00 / FEATURE – £75.00

Regular – Thursday 17 January 2019
SHORT – £30.00 / FEATURE – £85.00

Late – Thursday 7 February 2019

4. Call for submissions: Sheffield Doc/Fest 2019 (Film and Alternate Realities programmes)

Submissions for the Sheffield Doc/Fest 2019 Film and Alternate Realities programmes are now open to discover the best new works in documentary and non-fiction storytelling globally. The Sheffield Doc/Fest programme offers filmmakers and creators an essential platform to launch their work at one of the world’s leading film festivals.

Sheffield Doc/Fest is open to all sectors of film and media production, all lengths, and all formats.

26th Edition will take place Thursday 6 June – Tuesday 11 June 2019.

5. Call for submissions: FILM-ED The International Student Film Festival

FILM-ED is an International Short Film Festival focused on showcasing the best student films from across the world. The festival aims to contribute to the continued development of filmmakers by providing a platform for them to share their stories to a wide audience on an international stage, and invaluable feedback on their work from leading industry figures from the Middle Eastern Region.

FILM-ED is a quarterly festival, with Spring, Summer, Fall and Winter editions. The festival is based in Dubai, UAE and is in partnership with SAE Institute Dubai and Cinema Akil.

Eligible films will compete for a number of awards in different categories, and award winners from each of the editions will compete for annual accolades, with all nominated films screened and awards announced during annual screening event at Cinema Akil in Dubai, UAE.

Rules and regulations: 
1 - FILM-ED is open ONLY to student productions - this includes films made within the course of an accredited College/University course, Bachelor's Degree (or equivalent), a Master's Degree (or equivalent), or a continuing education program.
2 - The festival only accepts films that are 30 minutes or less in total duration (including opening and closing credits).
3 - All submitted films with dialogue other than English must be subtitled in English.
4 - There are no premiere restrictions.
5 - You are free to submit the same film to different editions of the festival, but only once to each edition.
6 - All submitted films much have been produced a maximum of three years prior to the year of the festival edition.
7 - FILM-ED reserves the right to reject submissions without a refund of the submission fee if they do not meet the above criteria.
8 - Selected films must be submitted as high-quality ProRes (MOV / MP4) files.

6. Call for applications: The Stipendium Hungaricum Scholarship Programme 2019/2020

The Stipendium Hungaricum Scholarship Programme was launched in 2013 by the Hungarian Government. The main goal of the programme is to support the internationalisation of the Hungarian higher education and its constant development, to strengthen the international relations of the Hungarian academic and research community, to enhance the cultural diversity of the higher education institutions and to promote the good reputation and competitiveness of the Hungarian higher education throughout the world. 
The core mission of the programme is to increase the number of foreign students in Hungary and to encourage Hungarian higher education institutions to attract top foreign students.
The programme is based on bilateral educational cooperation agreements signed between the Ministries responsible for education in the sending countries/territories and Hungary or between institutions.

 

Stipendium Hungaricum scholarships are available for bachelor, master, one-tier master, doctoral and non-degree programmes (preparatory and specialisation courses).
