Duties and Responsibilities:
• Liaising with all governmental bodies during pre-production &

• Conducting meetings with officials
• In charge of customs clearance when shipments arrive to Jordan
• Scouting with producers for filming in Jordan
• Scouting for new locations, when requested

Social Media / Screening Officer |
|
The incumbent will report to the Communication and Cultural
Programming Manager.
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Managing the Institution’s presence on Facebook, Twitter,
Instagram and other relevant social media networks
• Updating the RFC’s website on a regular basis
• Working across departments to ensure proper messaging is being
executed online and is relevant to the RFC's goals.
• Monitoring local, regional and international media and compiling a
relevant report on a daily basis
• Managing online discussions by responding in a timely manner to
users’ needs and requests
• Monitoring and tracking discussion topics; prepare content and
statistical reports; online research on cinema-related topics
• Assisting in the screening program: selection of films and
management of the screening, whenever required
Qualifications:

Freelance Coordinator for the Film and Television Career Connection
(FTCC) – Limited Contract |

Responsible for coordinating for the Film and Television Career
Connection (FTCC), including planning, following-up and implementing
all necessary tasks related to the Connection.
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Managing all details of the FTCC
• Coordinating all logistics for FTCC and providing support pre,
during and post event
• Drafting budget and ensuring adherence to it
• Responsible for planning layout of booths and all installments
required
• Coordinating with all departments for the scheduling and
participation at FTCC

5. Call for applications: Med Film Factory’s 5th Round -
Deadline extended |
|
The deadline has been extended to receive applications for the
5th cycle of the Med Film Factory (MFF). The application deadline
now is until Tuesday 15th of August 2017.
The Royal Film Commission – Jordan welcomes applications to the
5th round of MFF, which will be held in Jordan in 2017. Six teams will be
selected (two teams from Jordan and four teams from the Arab world)
to participate in this year’s cycle.
Med Film Factory is a specialized training program aimed at
semi-professional teams of Arab film directors and producers. MFF
offers those teams the opportunity to advance their creative and
professional skills, while supporting the realization of their
projects, through two training sessions:
- The Producers’ Coaching Program
- The Directors’ Workshop

6. Call for applications: The 7th Malmo Arab Film Festival
Development Fund |
|
The application to Malmö Arab Film Festival's funding initiative
MAFF Development Funding opened on 1st of June and will close 31st
of July.
The funds aspire to stimulate co-productions between Sweden and the
Arab countries and are available for feature films, short films, and
documentaries.
MAFF Development Funding is an initiative aiming to create a
platform for new international partnerships and innovative stories
that concern issues of identities, exile and diversity. MAFF
Development Funding focuses on providing support to film projects
that are in a state of development. Projects should focus on issues
that concern Arab culture, identity and exile or are co-produced by
Swedish and Arabic producers.
MAFF Development Funding
- Feature - 150 000 SEK (in cooperation with the Swedish Film
Institute)
- Documentary - 50 000 SEK (in cooperation with the Swedish
Film Institute)
- Short - 30 000 SEK (in cooperation with Film i Skåne)

7. Call for submissions: BBC Arabic TV’s Cinema Badila
(Alternative Cinema) Programme |
|
BBC Arabic TV’s Cinema Badila (Alternative Cinema) programme is
entering its sixth series and is calling for film submissions.
If you have a film that is between 1 and 50 minutes (a short film)
in any genre and that you have not previously submitted to Cinema
Badila, please email a non expirable link to the film in full to:
alternativecinema@bbc.co.uk
The programme is primarily interested in Arabic speaking fiction, as
well as experimental films, video art and animation, although it
will also consider documentaries with original subject matters
and/or stylistic approach, as well as diasporic films with
non-Arabic dialogue.
If your short is selected, the programme will contact you to
negotiate the rights to broadcast it in full. Cinema Badila is also
interested in receiving longer fiction and documentary films for
review on the programme.
Cinema Badila is currently in the process of selecting films for
Series 6. So the sooner you are able to send your film the better.
However, if you have a film that is still not finished, please feel
free to send it at any time after its completion, as the process of
considering films for the programme is continuous all year round.
Cinema Badila is a platform for filmmakers, allowing them to reach
BBC’s wide audience (estimated at about 37 million weekly viewers
for the channel).
Although the focus remains on films from the Arab region and its
diaspora, it is fuuly appreciated by the programme that films should
not be restricted to geographical classifications, and that the
quality of filmmaking from the region is on par with world cinema.
Therefore, Cinema Badila forged high profile collaborations with a
view to creating an international programme that presents a
selection of Cinema Badila’s chosen films side by side with a
selection of international short films. These collaborations have
included the Berlin Film, the Cannes Film Festival, Hamburg
International Short Film Festival, and further potential
collaborations are planned.

8. Call for submissions: Doha Film Institute Fall 2017 Grants
Programme |

Doha Film Institute continues to nurture emerging filmmakers
from around the world through its Grants Programme. Alongside its
support to first and second time filmmakers, funding is also
available from the Institute to established filmmakers from the MENA
region.
Applications for funding through the upcoming cycle will be accepted
as of 18 July until 31 July.
The programme provides creative and financial assistance for short
and feature-length projects, subject to eligibility criteria, by
Qatari and international first- and second-time directors, as well
as established MENA directors.

9. Call for submissions: The 4th BBC Arabic Festival 2018
|
|
The BBC Arabic Festival calls for short films, reportages and
documentaries about the Arab world for its 4th edition now. The 2018
edition is open to filmmakers, journalists and the general public
whose work explores key issues in today's Arab world. Through this
open call, the festival seeks a bold and diverse range of filmmaking
from across the region, by Arab and non-Arab, professional and
first-time filmmakers.
The BBC Arabic Festival is an annual, week-long event that screens
short films and documentaries about current social and political
changes taking place in the Arab world.
The festival takes place at the iconic art-deco Radio Theatre at
BBC's Broadcasting House in central London. The screenings take
place alongside a series of talks, presentations and performances
that highlight current events in the Arab world. The official
selection of films also have the potential to air on BBC Arabic
television as part of our special TV programming produced
exclusively around the festival.
As in every year, all filmmakers in the programme will be
invited to London to present their film.
Terms and conditions:
For a work to be eligible it must meet the following criteria:
- It must have been made after January 1, 2016
- The subject matter must concentrate on an exploration of the
political and social situation in, or directly affected by, the Arab
world.
- The work must be either a short film, documentary or reportage

- Anyone being considered by the judges for the BBC Arabic Young
Journalist Award must be between 18 and 30 on 15 June 2016
Closing date for entries is 23:55 on 20 October 2016. Submissions

The Board of Directors of the Arab Film Institute (AFI) has
announced that submissions are now open for the First Arab Film
Awards 2018.
Created to celebrate the best in Arab Cinema at a time when there is
incredible global focus on Arab talent in the world of
entertainment. The Arab Film Awards are designed to encourage
stimulate and recognize the considerable work of the Arab Film
Professionals.
The Award Ceremony honors the work of the Arab film industry in the
following 18 categories:

Rules and regulations:
- Films participating in the Arab Film Awards must have had their
first official screening (be it a festival or at a regular cinema
release) after 1st August 2016 until the 31st August 2017.
- Film projects must have a director being a native Arab or with
Arab origin.
- Candidates for the individual categories must be of an Arab origin
or bearer of an Arab passport.
- Producers, distributors, Arab film institutions and individuals
should be member of the Arab Film Institute in order to submit films
for the Arab film Awards or for any other individual category of the
Awards.
- It is encouraged that film professionals register to the AFI
membership program.
Early bird registration for membership at 50% discount
Membership fee 40 US$ until 31st August 2017.
The memberships fees are set for all categories except for the
student films.
- Once the films are submitted, members of the Institute (AFI) can
watch the films online from 1st November 2017 to 31st January 2018
and cast their votes for the selection of the winners.
- Arab Film Awards eligible countries are the member states of the
Arab League:
Algeria, Bahrain, Comoros, Djibouti, Egypt, Iraq, Jordan, Kuwait,

11. Call for applications: An Opportunity to Develop Five
Screenplays
Workshop hosted by Producer/Screenwriter Mohamed Hefzy

collaboration with Film Clinic and the Egyptian Cinema
Syndicate’s Independent Film Committee, The Arab Film Institute (AFI)
is holding a workshop hosted by co-founder and producer/screenwriter
Mohamed Hefzy.
Held from 18 until 20 July, (from 4 to 9 PM), at the Greek Campus in
the American University in Cairo (AUC) in Bab Ellouk, the workshop
will focus on treatment writing, character creation, plot structure
and dialogue. The workshop is an opportunity for talented
scriptwriters looking for a chance to kick off their careers.
Hefzy will be choosing the best five screenplays from the workshop
and will be hosting another private session with the selected
screenwriters to develop the screenplays further for a maximum
period of three months to be possibly produced via Film Clinic. AFI
is offering the chance for 5 of its members to attend the workshop
for free.
