Film Prize of the Robert Bosch Stiftung for International
Cooperation Germany/Arab World
Call for the Project Market Amman 2020
|
The Film Prize of the Robert Bosch Stiftung is coming to an end. For
the last time, the Robert Bosch Stiftung will issue two Film Prizes
for international cooperation between emerging German and Arab
filmmakers to realize a joint film project. The prizes, each worth
60,000 Euros, will be awarded to short films (fiction, animation,
documentary) or feature- length documentaries.
Eligible for the Film Prize are mixed teams of German and Arab
filmmakers, who are in the beginning of their cinematographic
career. Furthermore, the film should be produced in both partnering
countries, stressing in particular the aspect of intercultural
exchange.
To facilitate the team-finding process, Arab directors will be
invited to the Project Market Amman to meet German producers.
The Project Market Amman
From June 12 to 17, 2020 the Project Market Amman takes place in
Amman, Jordan in cooperation with the Royal Film Commission – Jordan
(RFC).
Up to eighteen emerging directors from Arab countries are invited to
participate in the Project Market Amman to meet with up to twelve
German producers. The Robert Bosch Stiftung will cover all costs of
travel, accommodation and meals.
During four to five days, a diverse program will offer filmmakers
from the Arab World and Germany chances to know each other, get
introduced to each other’s work, talk widely about the directors’
projects and exchange knowledge and experiences. Joint events and
excursions will help intensify the newly acquainted contacts.
The meetings between directors and producers do not necessarily have
to result in a partnership but will contribute to gaining experience
of an international co-production market and extend the
network. In case a team is formed, the first step towards preparing
for a joint application for the last round of the Film Prize of the
Robert Bosch Stiftung is created.
Who can participate in the Project Market Amman?
Arab directors, at the beginning of their cinematographic career,
can apply for the Project Market Amman if they have a short film
(fiction, animation or documentary) or a feature-length documentary
in development. Applicants must be able to communicate fluently in
English.
How to apply
To participate in the Project Market Amman, filmmakers must register
at
www.onlineprojectmarket.de
and fill in and upload all
requested data. As project information, a PDF of maximum two to

or treatment should be available upon request.
Out of all submissions, up to eighteen projects will be chosen by a
selection committee consisting of members of the RFC, experts from
the Arab World and the Film Prize team to participate in the Project
Market Amman.

Call for applications: Sundance Institute Documentary Fund
|
The
Sundance Institute Documentary Fund is operating on a Rolling Open
Call. While this will not increase the number of feature films the
fund can support, it aims to respond to applicants more flexibly
throughout the year to award grants on a rolling basis.
The Fund encourages you to submit your feature film at the point
when you feel your project is ready to share, rather than rushing to
submit before you are ready because of a fixed deadline. Therefore,
going forward, filmmakers will be restricted to two application
attempts total per project.
The Documentary Film Program (DFP) has evolved its mandate to focus
on the values of Art, Reach, and Change. It accomplishes these by
encouraging experimentation and excellence in form, championing
under-represented voices, and supporting the social and creative
impact of this work upon release.
