1. Job Opportunity at the Royal Film Commission - Jordan: Jordan Film Fund Assistant
Summary/Objective
The Jordan Film Fund (JFF) Assistant supports the Fund's programs, activities and projects, and provides administrative support to the JFF Manager in the implementation and facilitation of these programs.
 
 
Tasks:
  1. Prepare, file and retrieve documents, records and reports of JFF whether in paper or electronic;
  2. Assist in responding to applicants’ inquiries/ arrange interviews as needed;
  3. Assist with year-round JFF jury meeting and distribution;
  4. Maintain an updated database and follow up on JFF cycles and applicants;
  5. Coordinate logistics and handle all requests for year-round JFF meetings and events;
  6. Coordinate with different RFC departments;
  7. Assist with budget administration and expense reports;
  8. Assist when required on unexpected matters when arise.
 
Competencies:
  1. Excellent communication skills written and verbal in both Arabic and English;
  2. Very good presentation skills;
  3. Highly organized and attentive to details;
  4. Problem solving/analysis.

Expected Hours of Work:
This is a full-time position that can require long hours and weekend work during jury meetings and JFF events.
 
Travel:
This position may require up to 25% travel. Some of the travel can be international.
 
Required Education and Experience
  1. Bachelor’s degree in humanitarian studies or arts;
  2. Minimum of three to five years office experience;
  3. Previous work experience in project support or involvement in an Art project.

2. Job Opportunity at the Royal Film Commission - Jordan: Accountant
Summary/Objective
 
The accountant position is responsible for processing payroll, helping with filing taxes, processing purchase orders and other miscellaneous tasks related to accounting. The accountant is also responsible for handling various disbursements.
Tasks:
  1. Handle all accounting vouchers (book keeping);
  2. Prepare payments for the suppliers;
  3. Handle petty cash reports in an accurate and timely manner in accordance with departmental procedures;
  4. Process purchase orders in an accurate and timely manner;
  5. Process cheques;
  6. File, order supplies and perform miscellaneous duties for department;
  7. Communicate with co-workers, management, clients and others in a courteous and professional manner;
  8. Conform with and abide by all regulations, policies, work procedures and instructions;
  9. Conform with all safety rules and use all appropriate safety equipment.

Work Environment:

This is a full-time position: Sunday through Thursday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

Travel:
No travel is expected for this position.
Required Education and Experience:

  3. Very good Arabic and English communication skills both written and verbal;

3. Call for submissions: The Rabat International Author Film Festival (FICAR)
The Rabat International Author Film Festival (FICAR) (Festival International du Cinema D'Auteur de Rabat) is dedicated to the Author cinema, a true cinema of art and thought in all its forms, to brave films, demanding, intelligent; films that have an urgency and a personal writing dedicated to humanity in all its forms.

The purpose of the FICAR is to meet and know the films, the authors and the public.
The FICAR is an alternative practice to counter the industrial machine that has globalized the taste and erased the right to be different.

Rules and Regulations:
  1. Films produced after January 1st, 2018 are eligible for submissions.
  2. Feature films submissions, Moroccan premiere is a must- feature films that were previously screened previously in Morocco won't be taken into consideration.
  3. FICAR covers the travel cost of directors of all selected international films to Morocco to participate in the festival's screenings and activities.

4. Call for applications: The Arab Fund for Arts and Culture - Training and Regional Events Grants Program
The Arab Fund for Arts and Culture - AFAC is still accepting applications to the Training and Regional Events Grants Program until 1st of September 2019.

The Training and Regional Events grant supports trainings and workshops in the different cultural and artistic fields, in addition to residencies, symposiums, forums, and festivals (multidisciplinary, music, film, performing arts, visual arts, literature).

The program provides annual grants ranging from a few thousand U.S. dollars up to a maximum of fifty thousand U.S. dollars.

When the grant from AFAC exceeds ten thousand dollars yet only covers a portion of the project’s overall budget, the grantee is obliged to raise 70% of the remaining budget in order to be awarded the grant.

In the event that the grantee is unable to procure 70% of the remaining project budget within 90 days of receiving the grant, the latter will be canceled.

In the event that the grantee does not sign the grant contract within 60 days upon receipt thereof, the grant will be canceled. Projects must be completed within 2 years of signing the contract, during which grantees are expected so submit the necessary financial and narrative reports.

No grantee will be awarded more than two deadline extensions during the grant period; such extensions should be justified by the grantee and approved by AFAC.

AFAC does not offer mobility grants. Travel costs can be covered by the AFAC grant only when they are part of the implementation of a project.

Eligible Candidates

AFAC is open to receive project applications from all Arab individuals working in arts and culture. Project applications are accepted irrespective of age, years of experience, country of residence, ethnicity, gender or religion.

AFAC also accepts proposals from local, regional and international institutions whose projects are related to Arab culture. These include artistic, cultural, social and educational institutions, galleries, centers and organizations that are engaging with contemporary Arab arts and culture.

Ineligible Candidates

AFAC will not consider applications submitted by:
Members of the Board of Trustees, their business partners or family members.
AFAC staff members, their business partners or family members.
Members of the current year’s readers and jurors’ committees.
Recipients of two consecutive grants unless two years had passed since the last grant.
Applicants with a current open grant.
Each applicant (individual or institution) is entitled to only one application in the same category.
If an applicant has an application that is in process, s/he cannot submit another application in any category until the result of the current application in process is announced.

Eligible Expenses

The AFAC grant covers project-related expenses (including artist fees). In the case of institutions, a small percentage of the grant (not exceeding 15%) can be allocated for certain running costs. AFAC and the jury reserve the right to determine whether the proposed running costs items are relevant or not.

5. Call for submissions: London Independent Film Awards
London Independent Film Awards is an IMDB qualifying monthly competition with annual screenings, recognizing and awarding the work of independent filmmakers worldwide. It aims to give the directors, writers, animators, and actors involved a helpful step forward in their future careers.

All monthly winners will receive a digital certificate to commemorate their achievement. Winners of the monthly competition will be announced on 3rd of each month on the website and promoted via social media.

A selection of best films will be shortlisted to compete in the Grand Jury competition and screened at the annual festival held on 6th December 2019 in London.

The winners will be awarded the Award statuette at the closing ceremony.

Films entered in multiple categories may win multiple awards.

The late deadline to participate is on August 30, 2019.

Rules & Terms

The London Independent Film Awards accepts all forms and genres. All films must be in English or have English subtitles. Multiple entries are allowed for each filmmaker and each entry may be entered in multiple categories separately.
Submissions must be an original work of the applicant’s team and not based, in whole or part, on another author’s work (unless underlying material is in public domain).
 
A short synopsis and digital still photo is required for all scripts and all entries (except music videos) for the jury, and for our website announcements should you win.

Winning categories vary every month depending on the submissions received. Please select the right category while submitting to avoid disqualification.

Entry does not guarantee acceptance into the festival. No premiere status is required.

Entry fees are non-refundable.

6. Call for funding: Roy W. Dean Film Grants- From the Heart
The Roy W. Dean Film Grants funds independent feature films, documentaries, web series, and short films with budgets of $500,000 or less that are unique. There are 3 Roy W. Dean Film Grants available each year. One for Spring, Summer and Fall.
 
Winners of the Roy W. Dean Film Grants receive a cash award as well as goods and discounted services offered by film industry companies and professionals who care about getting good films produced. See each grant below for specific information on awards for individual grants.

7. Call for submissions: CineMart Project- Rotterdam's Co-production Market
International Film Festival Rotterdam (IFFR) announces the film projects selected for the 36th edition of Rotterdam’s co-production market CineMart. The selected filmmakers come from all over the world – from Brazil to Sweden and from Palestine to Singapore. CineMart invites filmmakers and producers to pitch their projects to film professionals in both tailored one-to-one meetings and presentations open to all CineMart guests.

Submissions for CineMart 2020 are now open. The deadline is extended to 2 September.

The selection of CineMart 2020 will be announced in December 2019.

CineMart will take place during IFFR Pro Days from 26 January to 29 January 2020.

General rules

Application materials and subtitles should be in English.
The selection to CineMart is done in two phases:
  1. a pre-selection of projects is made on the basis of the application for
  2. pre-selected projects are invited to submit additional documentation for consideration
Applications can only be submitted more than once when specifically invited to do so.

Selection Criteria

CineMart has no rigid rules and each individual project will be considered on its own merits. There are certain limits to the field in which CineMart operates:
  • The main criteria for selection are the viability and quality of the plans and the demonstrable talent of the directors and/or producers.
  • Projects should be new or recent and not have explored all possible avenues of financing yet.
  • Projects should not have been presented at any other market or festival. There are a limited amount of exceptions.
  • The project should be for a feature film with theatrical potential (minimum length of 60 minutes)
  • The project can be in different stages of development, but a complete screenplay should be available during CineMart;
  • The project can be from all parts of the world.
  • There should be a potential international market for the project.
  • The total budget of the film should not exceed 6 million euros.

8. Call for competition: BAFTA Rocliffe New Writing Competition & Showcase
Rocliffe in partnership with BAFTA, runs the BAFTA Rocliffe New Writing Competition & Showcase, an initiative which has connected scores of aspiring British writers and filmmakers with agents, development executives and established industry members.

Competitions are specific to each medium (TV, Film, Children's Media, Comedy) and distributed to the industry at large. Given that all the writers are selected anonymously, this initiative is about the voice of the writer - not their age, experience, race or gender.

They run four different competitions throughout the year: Film, Comedy, Writing for Children and TV Drama. All competitions are judged by readers, a script selection panel and an industry jury, selected for their proven expertise in that medium.

FILM
Applications for Film open on Friday 18 January 2019, 12pm. To apply for Film please submit a completed online application form along with your supporting materials by Wednesday 20 February 2019, 5pm. TV COMEDY
Applications for TV Comedy open on the Monday 4th March 2019, 12pm. To apply for TV Comedy please submit a completed online application form along with your supporting materials by Wednesday 10 April 2019, 5pm**. If you wish to apply for a bursary please complete a bursary form by 22 March 2019, 5pm.

YA and CHILDREN'S MEDIA
Applications for Children’s Media open on Monday 27 May 2019, 12pm. To apply for Children’s Media please submit a completed online application form along with your supporting materials by Wednesday 18 July 2019, 5pm. If you wish to apply for a bursary please complete a bursary form by Tuesday 12 June, 5pm. Scripts can be any medium.

TV DRAMA
Applications for TV Drama open on Monday 26 August 2019, 12pm. To apply for TV Drama please submit a completed online application form along with your supporting materials by Monday 01 October 2019, 5pm. If you wish to apply for a bursary please complete a bursary form by 20 September 2019, 5pm.

PRIZES

Three winners of the BAFTA Rocliffe New Writing Initiative get: A fantastic Industry showcase at BAFTA's London HQ with professional actors and directors, industry introductions, access to bespoke masterclasses and a tailored career planning and profile building session to provide support in navigating the industry. Five tickets to the live showcase with a travel allowance for those outside of the M25.

Short Listed Writers: Writers whose work makes it to the final stage with the jury get two tickets to the live showcase.

9. Call for submissions: The Palm Springs International Film Festival
Located in the beautiful Coachella Valley at the base of Mt. San Jacinto in southern California, the Palm Springs International Film Festival is a high-profile film festival, screening over 170 films from more than 70 countries for a sophisticated and diverse audience of 136,000+.

The Festival brings together industry reps and executives from Los Angeles, film aficionados from across the country and filmmakers from around the world. The festival also features filmmaker tributes, special presentations, nightly celebrations and special events and an annual star-studded Awards Gala that honors the best and brightest performances of the past year.

Rules & Terms

SUBMISSION REGULATIONS:
  1. Submitted films must be ≥70 minutes for either narrative features or documentary features. No short films will be accepted.
  2. A digital screener is required (Vimeo preferred)
  3. The film must have been completed in 2019 (Exceptions are made for Academy Award Foreign Language Oscar submissions). Films completed in 2018 will only be considered if they premiered in 2019; films premiering prior to 2019 will not be considered
  4. The film must not have been screened previously in the Coachella Valley (exceptions are made on a case by case basis and at the discretion of the Festival)
  5. The film must not have been broadcast or available on streaming services in the U.S. prior to January 13, 2020 (exceptions are made on a case by case basis at the discretion of the Festival)
  6. If you submit a work-in-progress, please let us know what elements of your film are missing by writing programming@psfilmfest.org with “TECH NOTES ON:” plus your film’s title in the subject line.
  7. More than one entry may be submitted. Each entry must include a separate entry form and submission fee. Films submitted without proper payment will not be considered. Entry fees are non-refundable.
ONCE YOUR FILM IS ACCEPTED FOR THE FESTIVAL:
  1. Films accepted for the festival must be shown in DCP format only in their original language with English subtitles.
  2. The number(s), date(s), time(s), and location(s) of the screenings of films are at the discretion of the Festival.
  3. The print supplier will be responsible for the cost of shipment to the Festival. The Palm Springs International Film Festival, in turn, will return the print postage prepaid to the supplier or to the next destination as indicated by the supplier. The Festival will not be responsible for international return shipping costs for U.S.-produced films.
  4. The Festival takes utmost care of your entry, and provides insurance for loss or damage to a maximum value of $500.00 USD. The Festival does not pay additional charges for originals, masters, or special prints.

10. Call for submissions: Stockholm International Film Festival
 Stockholm International Film Festival continues to explore and promote the great directors of tomorrow. The festival is calling for film submissions today.

Awards & Prizes
Stockholm Impact. Bold films on pressing contemporary issues compete for 1 million SEK (approx. 120,000 USD) and an award designed by Ai Wei Wei. International or European premiere required.
Following the decision of an official festival jury of film critics, filmmakers, actors and producers, the Stockholm International Film Festival Awards will be presented to competing feature films in the following categories: Best Film (Bronze Horse), Best Documentary (Bronze Horse), Best Director (Aluminium Horse), Best Screenplay (Aluminium Horse), Best Cinematography (Aluminium Horse), Best Actor (Aluminium Horse), Best Actress (Aluminium Horse), Best First Feature Film. (Aluminium Horse), Best Short Film (Aluminium Horse). The winner of the Impact award receives 1 million SEK and an award designed by Ai Wei Wei.

GENERAL RULES
  • Submissions are only accepted through FilmFreeway.
  • Only digital submissions are accpeted (i.e. private Vimeo link or similar online video service).
  • For your film to be considered by the programing staff, the correct fee must be paid in full.
  • Please note that to be selected for the Stockholm Impact competition, the festival requires at least European premiere. For other sections our minimum requirement is Swedish premiere.
  • 1 Km Film is only open for Swedish short films.
  • Stockholm International Film Festival is under no obligation to contact the submitting party and/or refund the submission fee should the applicant not have adhered to rules, set out here or below.

11. Call for submissions: 8th Manhattan International Film Festival
Good news for all young filmmakers out there! The Manhattan International Film Festival is now accepting entries for its 8th year.

The Manhattan International Film Festival (MIFF) is an annual cultural initiative of the World Youth Alliance (WYA) seeking to recognize promising young directors committed to exploring the depth of the human condition. Previous films recognized by the festival have examined themes relating to family, community, suffering, empathy, the pursuit of happiness, truth, and the transcendent.

Submissions will be reviewed by a distinguished global jury panel, and the selected finalists will be invited to screen their film in New York City on March 2, 2020. At the conclusion of the festival, the winners will be selected, and their films will be subsequently be screened at prominent World Youth Alliance events around the world.

Filmmakers must be below 31 years old to qualify. Filmmakers can submit their entries through this online form or the Manhattan International Film Festival FilmFreeway page. An application fee of $20 (USD) is required per entry.

Submissions close on November 15, 2019.
