1.
Call for submissions: Doha Film Institute Fall 2018 Grants Cycle to Open
|
The next cycle of the
Doha Film Institute Grants opens 15 July 2018 and closes at midnight (GMT+3)
on 30 July 2018.
The goals of the Doha
Film Institute Grants Programme are to identify new talent, seek out new
cinematic voices and discover universally resonant stories.
The Programme provides
creative and financial assistance for short and feature-length films, subject
to eligibility criteria, by Qatari and international first- and second-time
directors, as well as established MENA directors.
Financial support is
also available for TV and web series helmed by MENA scriptwriters and
directors, subject to eligibility criteria.
The TV fiction and
creative documentary series development grant aims to assist independent
screenwriters/producers from the MENA region in developing original
serialized content intended for international audiovisual markets, while the
web fiction and creative documentary series grant will support independent
directors/producers from the MENA region in financing the production of original
serialized content for the web.

2.
Call for submissions: Bidayyat Audiovisual Arts’ Skills Training Program
|
As part of its
on-going efforts to create a space for alternative cinematic education,
Bidayyat presents its Skills Program, designed for those who wish to
specialize in the technical aspects of filmmaking, such as production,
cinematography, sound and editing. Over the course of a year, Bidayyat will
be hosting workshops in all these areas.
This programme
will be open to young talents from Syria and Lebanon, including Palestinians
residing in both countries.
The “Skills
Program”, will follow a transparent selection process that grants equal
opportunities to all applicants. It will be announced by an open call in
Bidayyat’s website, social media channels and mailing list and after the
filing of the application files, the trainers will chose the most qualified
and suitable applicants.

Bidayyat: Bidayyat for Audiovisual Arts is a non-profit civil company,
launched in early 2013, to support and produce documentaries and short and
experimental films, and to organize specialized training courses on
documentary filmmaking.

for submissions: Global Migration film Festival
|
Until 21st
of June 2018, professional and emerging filmmakers working in all
genres are invited to submit original films, to be screened around the world
during IOM's Global Migration Film Festival.
Festival’s
theme:
The Festival
focuses on the challenges and promises of migration, and the unique
contributions migrants make to their new communities. Films that tackle
negative perceptions of migrants, defy stereotypes, and portray positive and
welcoming actions by and toward migrants are encouraged.
Only films
submitted through the festival’s designated platform, FilmFreeway, will be
considered.
Categories
and Awards:
Full-length
features:
Filmmakers
working in all genres are invited to submit films that address the festival’s
themes with a total running time exceeding 41 minutes.
- Short films:
Filmmakers
working in all genres are invited to submit films that address the festival’s
themes with a total running time between 15 and 40 minutes.
SUBMISSION
GUIDELINES AND REGULATIONS
DEADLINE FOR
ENTRY
Films of all
genres (feature, documentary, animation, etc.) and lengths will be accepted
from April 3 – June 21, 2018.
LANGUAGE
Films should
be in English or subtitled in English. Subtitles are encouraged, even if the
dialogue is in English, to ensure maximum comprehension for global audiences.
Films in other
languages are encouraged but must have subtitles in English.
PRODUCTION
YEAR
Films
completed on or after January 1, 2015 are eligible for consideration.
RIGHTS
Films may only
be submitted by individuals with the legal right to negotiate the use of the
work.
FILM
SELECTIONS
The festival
will inform applicants by mid-August if their film is selected.
For each
selected film, either the filmmaker or the individual responsible for the
submission should be prepared to provide relevant still images, a trailer,
the filmmaker's biography, a photo of the film’s director and the transcripts
for subtitling.

Call
for submissions: Zurich Film Festival 72 Summer Edition 2018
|
Switzerland’s
biggest film contest ZFF 72 celebrates its five-year anniversary by launching
a brand new summer edition. The contest requires budding filmmakers to create
from June 29 onwards a film on a given theme lasting no longer than 72
seconds in just 72 hours.
Participants
can register to take part at ZFF 72 http://www.72.zff.com/en/.
Entrants are in with a chance of winning the Viewers Award worth CHF 3’000.

The global
online community is given the chance to vote for its favorite at ZFF 72 http://www.72.zff.com/en/ from Monday

at the end of the voting period wins the Viewers Award worth CHF 3’000.
The ZFF 72
contest is kindly supported by Credit Suisse and Samsung. ZFF 72 also
collaborates with various other film festivals in the emerging filmmaker,
short film and mobile film sectors.

for submissions: DOCVILLE – International Documentary Film Festival BEGIUM
|
DOCVILLE International
Documentary Film Festival in Belgium has a strong focus on author driven
documentary with special emphasis on the cinematic experience in general and
cinematography in particular.
For 8 days, the
festival organizes masterclasses, seminars, master talks next to its
screenings.

GENERAL RULES &
REGULATIONS - APPLICABLE FOR ALL COMPETITIONS
- Only FEATURE LENGTH docs are accepted
(50 minutes or more) for the Belgian, ConScience and International
competition.
- Short Documentaries are very
rarely selected! Please only upload short documentaries (5-15 minutes
strongly preferred).
- Submitted films should be marked
as downloadable (film will be stored in the (secured) festival
archives).
- Submitting your film means
accepting we include the film’s preview file and information in the
festival video archive.
- Submitted films can't be
withdrawn from competitive sections.

the previous deadline of Docville (January1st, 2017)
- Films -although preferred- are

international competition need to be (at least) Belgian premieres (can't

AUDIENCE AWARD
- If your film does not comply with one or more of the rules stated above,
you can still submit your film. However, it will not be eligible for a jury
award. If screened in one of the non-competitive sections, it will be
eligible for the audience award.
SPECIAL NOTE FOR SHORT FILMS
- There is VERY limited place in
the current programme for short films.
- Short films OVER 15 minutes are
strongly discouraged.
- Short films can NOT compete in
any of the competitive sections.

6. Call
for entries: The British Independent Film Festival
|
The British Independent
Film Festival is a festival run by independent filmmakers for independent
filmmakers. It is organized by the Film Festival Guild and therefore has
links to festivals around the world.
The Festival provides
opportunities for independent filmmakers to have their films screened at
great red carpet-style venues to a passionate audience of film professionals,
film students, journalists and the general public.
The Festival aims to
promote and support independent filmmaking. BIFF 2019 will be hosted at the
Empire Cinema, in Leicester Square on the 7th and 8th of June 2019.
There are a number of
awards up for grabs at the Festival, including the prestigious British Lion
Award for Achievement in Film on a Low Budget.
Festival’s categories:
- Feature Film
- Any film over 55 minutes in
length.
- Films with distribution are
allowed.
- Films that have already
screened are allowed.
- Short Film
- Any film under 55 minutes in
length.
- Student Film
- Any student film with a running
time under 55 minutes.
- Music Video
- Any music video under 15
minutes in length.
- Documentary
- A documentary (including
factual, non-factual & mockumentary) of any length.
- Unproduced Screenplays
- A screenplay that has not been
produced prior to submission.

7.
Call for entries: Brazil International Film Festival
|
The 4th Brazil
International Film Festival (BRIFF) will take place from 23rd
until 27th May 2019.
BRIFF has
continued to grow and develop into a screening opportunity for filmmakers.
The festival
screens Short Films (Films under 30 minutes length), Feature Films (Films under
130 minutes length), Documentaries, Animation, TV-Web Series and Student
Films of every genre.
Terms and
conditions:

All non-English films must have English
subtitles.
·
At this time, the festival is only
requesting online submissions and all materials must be viewable online.
·
By submitting to the festival, you agree
to allow your film (or other artistic work) to be screened by the festival
during the festival run, for which you are submitting, at no charge to the
festival.
·
All media selected by the festival will be
asked to provide promotional materials, but no promotional materials must be
sent until selection.
·
By submitting to the festival you are
admitting copyright ownership of everything submitted.
·
The festival reserves the right to
disqualify any submission at any time, if there is any question of ownership,
copyright infringement or any sign of disrespect (in any form of media) to
the festival or its representatives.
All fees are
